I sent the following email to TP staff from Langstane, Grampian Housing Association, Hillcrest and Aberdeen City Council this morning. I will be approaching our Torry tenants (we don’t have any in Cove) but wondered if this is something that CaRTO would like to get involved in? I can add it to next agenda, any ideas would be very welcome as we are very much at brainstorming stage!

I’m just off the phone from Sarah Irvine of ACVO re the Community & Coast funding opportunities for Torry and Cove that you may be aware of. They have a particular focus on projects for younger people and older people – maybe there is something we could work on via NETRALT for our younger tenants/household members?
Castlehill don’t have a huge amount of stock in Torry – approx 25 at our Independent Living scheme at St Peter’s Court, and approx 30 general needs across Balnagask Walk, Menzies Road and South Esplanade West. We don’t have any in Cove. I’m not sure of everyone else’s numbers but thought it would be good if we could work together on developing a project and applying for funding?
Obviously NETRALT is a constituted group but the funding is also available to unconstituted groups, which might be helpful if you have any informal tenant/resident groups at your schemes. I’m going to contact our St Peters tenants as they are no longer an RTO. I also plan to discuss with Castlehill’s tenant group CaRTO as they often have good ideas for community-based projects.

She also said there will be in person and online events in the summer, before the funding applications open in September, so we have time to prepare if we do go ahead with something.

Dear Catherine
I’m contacting you in your capacity as Tenants Participation Officer with regards to a newly launched fund (see link below).

The fund, launched in partnership with ETZ, will be distributed to community projects in Torry and Cove. I am contacting all social housing providers in the area in the hope that we can engage with any residents’ groups/associations who may be interested in applying. We are particularly keen to involve small groups whose use of the fund could have some real impact within their communities. The fund opens in September, and we intend to hold community events at the end of summer to meet with groups and discuss possible ideas.
I would welcome the opportunity to have a conversation to provide further details of the fund and identify ways to engage with your residents.
